Why a taxi to King's Cross?
From Norbiton, the rail route to King's Cross means taking the train into Waterloo and then the Northern line, which involves escalators, crowds and often a squeeze with luggage. Leaving early for a long journey north, a door-to-door taxi is simply easier. You sit down in Kingston and step out at the station.
The drive usually heads up the A3 through Roehampton and Wandsworth, crosses the river, and runs north through the West End towards Euston Road. The driver adjusts the route for traffic. Typical journey time is 55 to 75 minutes, and longer at weekday peaks.
Where trains from King's Cross go
King's Cross serves the East Coast Main Line. LNER runs fast trains to Peterborough, York, Leeds, Newcastle and Edinburgh, and other operators serve Cambridge, Hull, Sunderland and towns across Hertfordshire. Harry Potter fans will know the famous Platform 9¾ photo spot in the concourse. If you are travelling to Scotland, allow plenty of time. Long-distance trains are busy, and seat reservations fill quickly.
St Pancras International
St Pancras is right next door, across Pancras Road. It is the London terminal for Eurostar to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, and for high-speed trains into Kent. If you are catching Eurostar, remember you need to be through check-in well before departure, so tell us your train time and we will plan the pick-up.
Getting you there on time
Central London traffic is the variable. Weekday mornings between 7am and 10am, and Friday afternoons, can add 20 minutes or more. We will suggest a pick-up time based on your train, with enough margin to collect your tickets and find your platform. For very early trains, the roads are clear and the drive is often much quicker.
