Merton Park is known for its tree-lined roads and Edwardian houses, laid out by the developer John Innes, whose name lives on in John Innes Park and the famous compost. Merton Park has no mainline station of its own. Instead, Tramlink stops at Merton Park and Dundonald Road link it with Wimbledon and Croydon. The Northern line is at Morden and South Wimbledon, and trains run from Wimbledon Chase. That mix works for daily journeys, but a taxi is easier for luggage, late nights and cross-country trips.

From Merton Park, Gatwick is often slightly quicker than Heathrow. The drive heads south on the A24 or A217 to the M25 and M23, and is typically 40 to 55 minutes.
