Getting around Wimbledon
Wimbledon has two distinct halves. The town centre sits at the bottom of the hill around the station and the Broadway, with the Centre Court shopping centre and the New Wimbledon Theatre. Up Wimbledon Hill Road is the Village, with its boutiques, restaurants and pubs, leading onto Wimbledon Common. We pick up across both, as well as in Wimbledon Park, South Wimbledon and the roads towards Plough Lane, home of AFC Wimbledon.
From our base in Norbiton, we usually reach Wimbledon along Coombe Lane West and through Raynes Park, typically in 15 to 20 minutes. This means we can often send a car at short notice, although booking ahead is always best.
Wimbledon station connections
Wimbledon station is one of South London's busiest interchanges, served by South Western Railway, Thameslink, the District line and Tramlink. A taxi is handy when you arrive with luggage, when the steep walk up to the Village does not appeal, or late at night when the trains have stopped.
The Championships
Every summer the All England Lawn Tennis Club hosts The Championships, and the roads around Church Road, Wimbledon Park and Southfields get extremely busy. Road closures and parking restrictions come into force. If you are travelling during the fortnight, book early and let us know, so we can plan a sensible drop-off point and allow for extra traffic.
Airports from Wimbledon
Wimbledon is well placed for both main airports. A Heathrow airport taxi from SW19 is typically 40 to 55 minutes. Gatwick is typically 45 to 60 minutes via the A24 or A217. We track arriving flights and offer meet and greet, so your driver is waiting when you land.
